In 1956, Roberto Rossellini is in the midst of a personal and artistic crisis. His recent films with Ingrid Bergman have failed, their marriage is unraveling, and the press is relentless. With doubts and a suitcase full of spaghetti, he sets off—only to find in India a creative and emotional rebirth, inspired by a culture balancing tradition and modernity.
